What is the OCIA?
OCIA, the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, is the process through which non-Catholic adults become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. It involves a spiritual journey of conversion and learning that culminates in the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. The process typically lasts for about a year and is broken down into different stages, including the period of inquiry and catechesis, leading up to the reception of the sacraments, which occurs at the Easter Vigil.
Who is OCIA for?
- Those who have never been baptized and wish to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist in the Catholic Church.
- Those who were baptized in another Christian denomination and wish to be in full communion with the Catholic Church by receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
- Baptized Catholics who have not completed their initiation by receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
- Non-Catholic, married to a Catholic spouse and attending Mass as a couple, and desires to fully share in the Catholic faith.
When do the programs begin?
OCIA classes begin on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
